An Inspirational Parable About Life Values
A professor had certain materials in front of him as he stood in front of his philosophy students. He grabbed up a very large, empty mayonnaise jar before the lesson started and started filling it with golf balls.
He then enquired as to whether or not the jar was full. They both agreed it was.
After that, the professor filled the jar with pebbles from a box. The pebbles rolled into the spaces between the golf balls as he gently shook the jar. The children were then re-asked if the jar was full. They concurred once more that it was.
The professor then grabbed a box of sand and added it to the container. Of course, the remaining area was filled with sand. His students unanimously said “yes” when he re-asked if the jar was full.
In order to fill the empty area between the sand grains, the professor then took two pint glasses of beer out from under the table and poured their contents into the jar. The pupils chuckled.
As the laughing died down, the lecturer said, “Now, I want you to understand that this jar represents your life. The vital things in life are the golf balls: your loved ones, kids, health, friends, and hobbies; things that would still fill your life even if all else were gone.
